Project Management

Additional Information

"A Project is any temporary endeavor undertaken to provide a unique product or service" as defined by the 2000 Edition PMBOK published by the Project Management Institute.  All Projects have a defined beginning and an end.  Projects cost money and require planning to be done successfully. Projects can be literally any size.  A project could be as small as painting the deck in your yard.  Mega Projects can also be quite large and required thousands of people and billions of dollars to complete.  The time frame ranges from a few hours to several years.

Project Management can be described as "the Application of Knowledge, Skills, Tools and Techniques to project activities to meet project requirements.

The Project Management Triangle are concerned with the management of three integral parts:

  • Time (Schedule)
  • Cost (Budget)
  • Scope (Work to be Done)
